OeBB-Infrastructure AG is conducting a non-binding market investigation for the "Condition monitoring of railway steel bridges" project in order to optimize the project and tender documents and potentially to inform interested entrepreneurs about the plans and requirements.
This document presents the framework conditions and the process of this market exploration in accordance with Section 197 BVergG 2018.
It is planned to replace the aging railway steel bridges with a system between 2026 and 2030 monitor in order to obtain information about the condition and remaining service life of these bridges.
This system should therefore be suitable for continuous use over several years and also meet specific railway standards, such as EN 50121-4:2026 and protection class IP66 (dust-tight and protected against strong water jets).
The measurement technology for the early detection of crack formation in the steel structure should be based on sound emission technology in particular to detect fatigue cracks that are not yet visible (such as below rivet heads). The power supply must self-sufficient (e.g. via photovoltaics) and the data is sent to a server via mobile communications.
The provider must be able to make a valid statement about the actual structural condition of the monitored area and subsequently also a reliable prognosis for it
